1965-1975
While it is true that neo-fascism has become fashionable in the USA, I doubt that the fascists and their ilk will have the final say because, at the end of the day, they’re bad for business, and Mammon is the American god.
But they will do as much damage as they can until they are thrown out and then it will be back to rampant consumer capitalism and the military-industrial-complex’s imperial designs on the rest of the world—a status quo ante that the so-called “liberals” will think is a vast improvement by comparison.
The American people are caught in a political binary driven by the “two-party system” that is on automatic pilot—and no one questions it. No one questions the system itself anymore. The system is sacred.
The period from 1965-1975 was the exception that proves the rule. Here are a few mementos from that charmed decade:
